WEDDING PLANNERS IN CUBA

Cuba Wedding

1-Find a venue in Cuba. There are a variety of churches that will allow a civil ceremony --the only sort of wedding recognized in Cuba--to be performed. There are also a multitude of hotels in Cuba where you can hold a wedding ceremony.

2-Choose a date. In Cuba, civil weddings can only be performed on weekdays. Civil weddings are the only types of wedding recognized in Cuba.

3-Send out the invitation early. Not only is an early invitation more polite, it also gives time for your guests to make travel arrangements and prepare to attend your wedding.

4-Prepare the documents. Every foreign couple who is planning to get married in Cuba must prepare the proper documents by having these documents translated into Spanish. These documents (birth certificate, proof of present marital status, divorce certificate if applicable, and if a widower or widow, marriage certificate and death certificate of spouse) must also be authenticated by the Cuban Consulate before a marriage license can be issued and before the ceremony can take place.

5-Arrive early. Arrive in Cuba at least a few days before the wedding is scheduled. This will give you time to get your marriage documents in order. It also permits you to survey the venue and make any last-minute changes.

6-Cuban-born people who are not Cuban residents have to apply for a visa from the Cuban Embassy to be able to travel to Cuba. American citizens and citizens of some European countries may travel to Cuba for a visit, but a passport and a tourist card, which is issued when your airplane ticket to Cuba is purchased, is required. If you are not Cuban-born but are a U.S. citizen, Cuba does allow you to visit as a tourist, but because the U.S. has a partial embargo of trade with Cuba, which is enforced is enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control U.S. citizens and residents have to submit an application for travel to Cuba with OFAC (www.treas.gov/ofac). Once approved, travel has to be completed on an OFAC approved airline and travel must originate from Miami, New York or Los Angeles.
